Based on its nutritional profile, almond butter is a better option than peanut butter, a staple in most houses. Do you know peanuts are not nuts? Peanuts are legumes and are in the same family as beans and soy.
I like to choose nut butter like almonds over peanut butter. Also, I want to make almond butter at home and avoid store-bought packed products whenever possible.
Obviously, any kind of food made at home is better for health and costs less. So here I will show how you can quickly and easily do it at your home. Your body and your pocket will thank you.
Even though there are few decent store-bought brands, most brands contain additives, gums, emulsifiers, sugar, and other nasty ingredients. Plus, it is effortless and straightforward to make.
It requires a few minutes to prepare. You only need almonds and a blender.
Why Almonds?
Almonds have a lot of health benefits. They’re high in monounsaturated fats, fiber, protein, and various important nutrients. In addition, almonds are a good source of vitamin E; that’s why almond oil is used in many beauty products.
Almonds help to control blood sugar due to their high fiber and healthy fat content. Also, It is high in magnesium which may additionally help to lower blood pressure levels.
Generally, soaking almonds, as well as other nuts, before eating is good. Soak nuts in salt water for 12 hours or overnight, rinse them, and dry in the oven on the lowest heat.
Soaking is essential because it removes phytic acid found on the nuts skin, making it easier for digestion and making the minerals ready to be absorbed.
Another way to consume almonds is using almond milk. Try my homemade almond milk recipe.
