This granola is not only grain-free, but also it is sugar-free. It is the healthiest granola sweetened by dates, plus it’s easily customizable to precisely suit your mood and available ingredients.
Homemade granola is an excellent substitution for cereal. You can serve it with yogurt, milk, or smoothies. Fresh fruits like berries, mango, and bananas are delicious to garnish your granola. You can have it for breakfast or enjoy it as a snack any time of the day.
How to Make Granola?
First, make the date mixture by adding dates, tahini, water, cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla into a blender. Blend it on high until it is creamy.
You can soak the dates in warm water for 7-10 minutes to make the dates soft. If you don’t have a blender, the date mixture can be done by mashing the softened dates using a fork.
Next, add all the nuts (roughly chopped), shredded coconut, seeds, and the date mixture in a large mixing bowl. Then, mix it until it is well combined.
Finally, spread the granola evenly on a parchment-lined baking tray. Bake in the center rack of the oven for 25 – 30 minutes, stopping one or two times to stir and ensure it cooks evenly.
Different Varieties of Granola
As I said, this granola is easily customizable. You can use honey or maple syrup or any other sweetener of your choice. Otherwise, You can avoid it altogether if you don’t want any sweet .
It is possible to switch the type of nuts you like. Cashew, walnut, pecans, Brazilian nuts, and other kinds of nuts work well.
Also, you can include dried fruits like raisins, cranberries, berries, etc. If you want to add chocolate, add it after it is done in the oven to avoid melting.

- All nuts used in this recipe are raw and unsalted.
- Tahini is sesame seeds paste. It is available in most stores. As I usually like to do it, you can make it at home. You roast the sesame seed and blend it until it is creamy in a high-power blender. It stays fresh for months in the fridge.
- The granola continues to harden as it cools.
